To spread some Christmas cheer on this merry Christmas Eve, I wanted to share these frosty photos with you! I think one of two things will happen:

1. You’ll be super glad you’re in your cozy house, waiting for a big meal-gifts-catching up with family-church service-sitting quietly by the tree-setting out cookies for Santa.

2. You’ll be super glad you’re in your cozy house, waiting for a big meal-gift opening time-catching up with family-church service-sitting quietly by the tree-setting out cookies for Santa.

Okay, so that’s just one reason. But, I’m pretty sure I’m right this time! DSCN8207Obviously, I was starting to get a little cabin fever the other day. Why else would I venture outdoors, in my snow boots & pjs to take pictures? The fresh, frozen air was calling to me.

DSCN8206So, I tromped around in the snow taking photos. Without gloves. I can’t adjust the zoom with gloves. Painful. DSCN8198I lasted about 5.5 minutes. It was fun. Right up until my my fingers began turning pinkish-red.

Dear Snow – You are pretty, but please melt soon. Your friend, SierraDSCN8171

Dear Ice sickles – You’re pretty but please melt soon. Your friend, SierraDSCN8193

Dear Trees – You can stay like this. I think it is super amazing. Your friend, SierraDSCN8195  Folks, this ain’t ice. It is ice crystals. DSCN8161

Tiny works of art! This only happens when it is REAALLLY cold & the humidity is a bit higher than normal.DSCN8191

Which reminds me, my fingers are freezing off. I need to take cattle photo. Would this be a farm winter wonderland without some cows? DSCN8168 DSCN8165

That is all I’ve got. I needed to go in and warm my fingers/toes/nose. DSCN8203

Merry Christmas (stay warm),

PS: My fingers did not freeze off.

Hey, I’m Sierra Shea! I am so glad you are here.

Where do I start with writing to introduce this blog? At the beginning, I suppose: I’ve been writing on various platforms online since 2013. I started blogging shortly after moving to South Dakota.

I am a mother and a maker at heart. I’m so grateful to be married to John and mother of three: Joslyn, J.D. and Jesse.

I am a self-taught decorator and designer. I am a brand new shepherdess and a Spiritual Director.

I love living in South Dakota, even though the winters & the wind can be a near-daily struggle.

Blogging is a grounding force in my life and it helps get me out of my head, unstuck and moving in the directions I always hoped I’d be going!
