Chair+Table2This seven post series was inspired by a table and chairs that I drooled over at Slumberland Furniture for nearly seven months. The new set would have cost me nearly $1000 and I just couldn’t take the leap. Instead, I decided to go for an table and chairs upcycle. Working with this table and chairs was a labor of love, but the total cost was less than $100. Plus, I love the finished product. This was only my second upcycle project! Anyone can do this. I’m a beginner, too. The finished table now resides in my sewing and writing studio. One chair sits by my sewing machine, another at my computer and the other two are nestled around our kitchen table.

Whew! The 7 post series of Table + Chairs is finally over! Now for the finished product! (My mom and sisters helped me set it up back in the spring, but the room itself is just now getting finished!).

My “studio” is complete! Thanks to some seriously long, hard work with this table & chairs.20130604-091530.jpg

    Hi Sierra,

Nice work! You have certainly accomplished a lot in the past few months, in addition to acquiring a husband and a couple of cats. Your studio is a cheerful place to create poems and stories and sewn objects as well as other kinds of stuff I am guessing.

Thanks – do love my cats…and the husband too! Are you doing any sewing in your studio lately?

        Hi Sierra,

I finished a quilt for the camper a couple of weeks ago. It is the first full sized quilt that I have made. It is in greens and deep reds and has squares with silhouettes of Montana wildlife set in log cabin strips. I am working on an applique “spring sprouts” quilt we will use next summer. I have 13 more squares to applique and then I need to make the corner stars that are set into the sashing. My “playroom” is getting a good workout.

We just refinished the living, dining, and hall floors and are waiting to get the furniture moved back on Sunday. We are doing more house projects that we didn’t get finished last summer.

We are off to Montana on Sunday–yea!

    Sierra,
I really like your new studio office…. you’re going to love working there… It reminds me so very much of my office space with the spaciousness, modern clean design, and open uncluttered work spaces…. (not really, if fact your space is everything my space would like to be but is not…) hope all is well….

Thanks! Your space has its own charming character. Warm, well insulated (lots of paper). Maybe you should take over the living room? Hehe!

Hey, I’m Sierra Shea! I am so glad you are here.

Where do I start with writing to introduce this blog? At the beginning, I suppose: I’ve been writing on various platforms online since 2013. I started blogging shortly after moving to South Dakota.

I am a mother and a maker at heart. I’m so grateful to be married to John and mother of three: Joslyn, J.D. and Jesse.

I am a self-taught decorator and designer. I am a brand new shepherdess and a Spiritual Director.

I love living in South Dakota, even though the winters & the wind can be a near-daily struggle.

Blogging is a grounding force in my life and it helps get me out of my head, unstuck and moving in the directions I always hoped I’d be going!
