Now that the weather is feeling spring-like I am trying to turn my attention from the house to the yard.

Yesterday, I was trying to fight the feelings over overwhelm that often flood me when I look around the Peacock Ranch property. Sometimes, it feels like I have no idea where to start and I haven’t gotten a single thing done since we moved in back in February of 2016.

This, of course, is wildly untrue, negative, and dramatic.

Yet, when I slow down a bit and offer myself some compassion, I can see that it is the nature of slow projects to feel some frustration over losing momentum or the typically slow pace.

Sometimes, a quick victory is the way to go to ramp up the feelings of progress again. That’s how I felt about these decorative garage door magnets I ordered. I probably saw the idea online somewhere and decided to try it out at our place. (My Amazon account tells me I ordered these June 6 of 2021, so I have no idea anymore where the original inspiration came from.)

Now that I’ve upload these two photos, I see that my center handles are a bit off kilter. Alas, that’s the beauty of a magnet! I can walk back out and fix them.

And, yes, I’m going to have to add: clean bird crap off the door to my bullet journal task list.

Spring yard work season has officially begun!

Hey, I’m Sierra Shea! I am so glad you are here.

Where do I start with writing to introduce this blog? At the beginning, I suppose: I’ve been writing on various platforms online since 2013. I started blogging shortly after moving to South Dakota.

I am a mother and a maker at heart. I’m so grateful to be married to John and mother of three: Joslyn, J.D. and Jesse.

I am a self-taught decorator and designer. I am a brand new shepherdess and a Spiritual Director.

I love living in South Dakota, even though the winters & the wind can be a near-daily struggle.

Blogging is a grounding force in my life and it helps get me out of my head, unstuck and moving in the directions I always hoped I’d be going!
