Packages from Missouri: Emerald Fabric, The Country Register, Bogs

Packages #4 & #5 both arrived on the same dreary day! They turned out to be quite the pick-me-up from our rainy, cloudy, muddy day blues.DSCN2943

After the packages arrived & I soon forgot all about the drizzle, drizzle, drizzle.

The big package came from Angell’s Western Wear. They sent John a new pair of bogs that we ordered.

DSCN2935His old pair had a hole. He was very quickly growing tired of a wet sock & damp foot! I don’t blame him one bit.

He was happy to slide on the new ones and retire the old pair.

Then, he headed back outside – with dry feet. DSCN2944

The package that was actually for me, came from my friend Meredith. Unlike the boots, which were addressed to me but for John. Those ladies at Angell’s are tricksters! I thought the first one was new clothes! Meredith owns & manages the Material Girl Quilt Shop in Centralia, Missouri.

When I was in high school, Meredith was my piano teacher. I took lessons with my friend Lucy. I remember one day during our lesson, instead of playing our chords, the three of us talked about her dream of opening a quilt shop in town. Look at her now!

Doesn’t she have lovely handwriting? Meredith included a copy of The Country Register in her package. She advertises for her shop in this paper & suggested that I try to send in a few columns to be published. The content of the paper is “quilting, needlework, arts & crafts, gifts ideas, recipes, events and more.” To me it sounds like a country, newspaper version of Pinterest. How fun! I’ve writing up a few samples, but I need to polish them up and then send them in.

Finally…the most exciting part:

Previously, I posted about some lovely emerald colored quilts that were making me green with envy. I can’t divulge the full details on the pretty emerald fat quarter she included quite yet. But, I can say, Meredith and I will have an exciting announcement regarding that pretty fabric very soon. That probably gives a big hint about what she and I are up too! We’ve been planning something exciting & Facebook messaging like mad women.

Check back soon for our full reveal on the emerald fabric!

Thank you (a lot, a lot)  for reading, Sierra Shea

Hey, I’m Sierra Shea! I am so glad you are here.

Where do I start with writing to introduce this blog? At the beginning, I suppose: I’ve been writing on various platforms online since 2013. I started blogging shortly after moving to South Dakota.

I am a mother and a maker at heart. I’m so grateful to be married to John and mother of three: Joslyn, J.D. and Jesse.

I am a self-taught decorator and designer. I am a brand new shepherdess and a Spiritual Director.

I love living in South Dakota, even though the winters & the wind can be a near-daily struggle.

Blogging is a grounding force in my life and it helps get me out of my head, unstuck and moving in the directions I always hoped I’d be going!
