My neighbor, Jenna, just had her first baby — a precious little boy named Waylin. The nursery theme is farm animals, which was perfectly appropriate because their family raises hogs, cows and farms.

We picked out the fabric together at The Lone Tree Legend Quilt Shop in Lake Preston, SD last fall when she told me the big news.

This was how I wrapped it up for her shower. They are primarily hog farmers, so I folded the quilt piggy-side up!IMG_0492

The machine quilting was done by Jan of Prairie Queen Quilting in Centralia, Mo. It was also farm-themed. IMG_0490 IMG_0489 IMG_0488

The finishing touch was the label. For the sake of privacy, I blurred out the date, weight, & name. Another neighbor, Viola, kindly made the label!IMG_0487

Have you made any quilts with this fabric line?

Isn’t a farm-themed nursery the cutest idea?

Hey, I’m Sierra Shea! I am so glad you are here.

Where do I start with writing to introduce this blog? At the beginning, I suppose: I’ve been writing on various platforms online since 2013. I started blogging shortly after moving to South Dakota.

I am a mother and a maker at heart. I’m so grateful to be married to John and mother of three: Joslyn, J.D. and Jesse.

I am a self-taught decorator and designer. I am a brand new shepherdess and a Spiritual Director.

I love living in South Dakota, even though the winters & the wind can be a near-daily struggle.

Blogging is a grounding force in my life and it helps get me out of my head, unstuck and moving in the directions I always hoped I’d be going!
