Hi there!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Ours was pretty quiet. We should have been planting corn, but the weather has just been so odd.

On Sunday morning at 9 am when I headed out the door to church (late!) I could see my breath. It was 36 degrees. That’s just not corn planting weather.

I’m more of a cowgirl than a farmer, but…even I don’t get excited about planting crops when everyone is still wearing their insulated bib overalls.

Since it was so dang cold, I decided to sew after church. All my relatives and friends in Missouri were planting flowers! Jealous! I couldn’t plant flowers, but I could still think about them.

I finished this little flower off into a pillow for our bed.IMG_9859

In March, I wrote about how I was unsure of how to finish this project and a sewing friend suggested I try machine appliqué. It worked! I’m not a pro, but within 20 or 30 minutes this little flower was secure.

Best part – I didn’t even have to change my thread. I already had a light yellow in the machine.

To make the pillow, I used this wonderful tutorial from the Happy Housie. It is an envelope pillow, which allows for easy washing.  IMG_9804 IMG_9807Best of luck with flowers, gardens and sewing in the next few weekends. I sure hope I get to get outside and plant some flowers, but until then — I suppose sewing them will do!
