“One not so dusty cowboy…”

This week I attended the writing retreat in Hermosa, South Dakota. The house I stayed in was outfitted for writers, complete with refrigerator poetry magnets. I found the clever, intriguing line about the cowboy while reaching for my milk.

The whole house was full of inspiration – from the magnets to the vast, eclectic library. I wrote for two days by a window overlooking a pasture. I saw a great horned owl, rabbits and prairie chickens.

The morning I left, it was -17! I was glad my car even started!

In all, the days at the retreat were wonderful. I have a renewed sense of purpose and focus with the projects I am writing currently.

Plus, I can’t wait to get home and see Roxy and John!

Hey, I’m Sierra Shea!Ā I am so glad you are here.Ā

Where do I start with writing to introduce this blog? At the beginning, I suppose: I’ve been writing on various platforms online since 2013. I started blogging shortly after moving to South Dakota.

I am a mother and a maker at heart. I’m so grateful to be married to John and mother of three: Joslyn, J.D. and Jesse.

I am a self-taught decorator and designer. I am a brand new shepherdess and a Spiritual Director.

I love living in South Dakota, even though the winters & the wind can be a near-daily struggle.

Blogging is a grounding force in my life and it helps get me out of my head, unstuck and moving in the directions I always hoped I’d be going!Ā
